Keepin’ It Simple, Keepin’ It Real
October 26, 2010
Today it was just over 90 degrees. So much for an amazing October, Florida! Okay, I’m only half-heartedly complaining. Sure I’d love for it to be slightly cooler, just enough that I don’t feeling my lotion dripping down my body, intermingled with sweat, by noon. Or maybe even cool enough that I could justify wearing a sweater. But don’t get cold on me now.
I wore:
Wait. That’s not me. Get out of the way, Herman! That’s just like him, always wanting to be in the center of things.
That’s better.
Short-sleeved lace shirt; see-through, worn over a tank top – Second-hand from a consignment shop
Denim capris (is “capris” the right word here?) – Express
Tan wedges; never caught at a good angle in pictures – Target
Cameo necklace – Gift from my sister, Forever 21
Black and tan bag, which I use on a daily basis for school – Target
I’m sitting down to do my Teach for America letter of intent and plan to submit my application tonight. So much else to do on top of that, by tomorrow. Read a book. Write a response. Read four chapters out of another book.

Happy Birthday, Hermy!
October 5, 2009
When you came to our home last fall, just under eight weeks old, you turned the three of us into a family. Every single day you make me smile, starting as soon as you wake me up with your sweet doggy kisses. (Who knew I, of all people, would some day not be grossed out by such a display of affection?). It baffles me that I have found a friend in a strange little creature of another species. To Herman, who cuddles hard and plays harder: Thank you for always reminding me to stop and smell the roses…and everything else in sight. I love you!
Good Morning, Beautiful
September 26, 2009
I was in the mood for a nice walk this morning and thought I might run into a garage sale. I didn’t, but Herman and I wound up at the cultural center that’s literally a stone’s throw from where I live. It’s beautiful, I feel lucky that it’s so close. Half the time I walk the dog there in my pajamas while other people arrive for weddings and art shows!

A Hermy Photoshoot
September 1, 2009
…and some other stuff. Oh yeah, I’m sick, and school is hard.
If Herman looks a little tense, it’s because he’s longing for the pizza that’s just out of view.

Random pics from the past couple o’ days.
Pizza topped with tomatoes and some of my bagged “herb salad” which was too herby to actually eat as salad.
Ingredients for my third caprese sandwich of the week. No more for a long time. But oh how I love me some basil.
Hoping my photog class goes better than last week’s initial session–when I arrived “early” at 7:20, thinking I had 10 minutes to spare, only to realize the class started at 7. And then the instructor began the technological talk. Oy.
Operation new journal is going well. I’ve kind of forgotten what it’s like to a)write by hand, and b)write privately. What a concept.
