Creativity 101

April 13, 2011

The summer of 2009 was a creative time for me because I was moving, which meant months of thrifting (and scouring Craigslist) and dreaming up decorating ideas.

Additionally, despite being in grad school, I took an introductory photography class for fun. Today I got the urge to browse through some of the pictures I took for that class since I’m looking forward to getting back into taking more photos again after a few months of, well, not.

To be honest, I never really got the hang of that class; I haven’t shot manually since then because I didn’t fully understand what I was doing, I messed up on a lot of the assignments on our final photo field trip, and overall I can’t say I was a shining star in the group. But at least I attempted to put some effort into my technique and it really was fun.

In the summer of 2010 I did an out-of-state internship that was a great experience but kind of kept me focused on professional rather than creative goals. I am amping myself up for a creative summer now, people. One of the first things I want to do is try to refresh this retro wooden cabinet we use as a tv stand that’s all scratched up. I seriously can’t wait. I mean, I guess my summer plans could change should I be offered a job, but I suppose that’s a win-win situation…

PS: I found a new WordPress theme I like better. Although I admit the two columns are a little cluttered, for some reason I’m having fun looking at my posts side by side. Yeah. I’m easy to please.
